With Fr. Peter Morris C.Ss.R.
Preparation for the most important part of our year as Christians can be a challenge in our hectic lives. This retreat will allow participants to enter into this great mystery more deeply.
Daily reflections will focus on the journey of the disciple alongside Christ’s royal road to the cross and beyond that to the earth-shattering reality of Easter. These reflections will be informed by the rich tradition of the Church and especially the teaching of Popes Benedict XVI and Francis. These reflections will be aided by looking at religious art.
Time will be spent in common and private prayer with Scripture, daily Mass and devotions, with some opportunity to approach the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Retreatants will begin a period of silence following the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday until the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night.
It is hoped that, when Easter arrives we will experience the great joy of this mystery. In the words of Bishop Hugh Gilbert, O.S.B, of Aberdeen: “we must live Lent and experience Lent against the horizon of the Resurrection, as a return to, and a fresh release of risen life in us and around us.” (Unfolding the Mystery, p.67)
The retreat begins with supper at 7.00pm on Tuesday 16th April 2019 and ends after breakfast on Sunday, 21stApril 2019. Retreatants should aim to arrive in Kinnoull for late afternoon on the 16thApril 2019 at the earliest.
The cost of the retreat is £365.00 and a non-refundable deposit of £65.00 is required to secure a booking for the retreat. (Concessionary rates available on request)
